Begin in Osaka, Japan's vibrant kitchen city. Then onto Wakayama, home to stunning coastal scenery and the revered Mount Koya, a centre of Shingon Buddhism. Then explore Nara, Japan’s first capital, where ancient temples, shrines, and friendly free-roaming deer await. Continue to Toba, your base for exploring the Ise-Shima region—known for its pearl cultivation and rugged coastline. Here, enjoy a half-day guided excursion to an Ama village, where you’ll meet Japan’s legendary female free divers. Take in sweeping views of Ise-Shima Bay, enjoy grilled seafood in a traditional Ama hut, and visit the Ama Culture Museum and Ishigami Shrine.
